Description
The dromedary camel is the tallest of the three camel species; adult males are six to eight feet at the shoulder, while females are 5 to 6 1/2 feet. Males typically weigh between 880 and 1,500 lbs, while females weigh between 660 and 1,200 lbs.
The dromedary camel has a long, curved neck, narrow chest, and a single hump (compared with two on the Bactrian camel), and long hairs on the throat, shoulders and hump. The hump is made of fat bound together by fibrous tissue.
This particular specimen is approximately 19 inches long, 9 inches at its widest point and 10 1/4 inches at its tallest point.
