Description
The Malayan Krait, or Blue Krait, is highly venomous, and about 50% of all bites will result in human death – even with the administration of anti-venom. Death is the usual result if no treatment is given.
The Malayan Krait can be found in Thailand, and is quite distinctive from other black and white banded snakes when an adult, but as a hatchling or juvenile snake, the differences are almost negligible. These snakes prefer proximity to water, rice fields, and rice dams, and will sometimes invade and take over rat holes in the ground.
These snakes feed primarily on other snakes, in addition to lizards, mice, frogs and other small animals.
This skeleton is mounted in a 4″ x 4″ glass dome.
