Description
Diaphonized Pinky Mice. These are absolutely beautifully done.
Vial is 1 5/8″ tall by 3/4″ wide. Although small, I am delightfully surprised by the “presence” and clarity of these specimens. You can see every bone…the hand and foot bones are incredibly small, and yet visible. It is possible that a tiny hand or foot might be missing, as they can sometimes disconnect in the process.
This process, also known as “Clearing and Staining” (clearing, or rendering the tissue translucent, and staining the bones a color), is achieved by bathing the specimen in Trypsin (an enzyme found in the small intestine of vertebrates, which starts the digestion of proteins), and then staining the bones and cartilage with various dyes.
