Description
Domestic or House Cat skull, real bone.
The cat is a domestic species of small canivore. In fact, it is the most common and only domesticated species in the Family Felidae which includes a large number of species. The term "cat" refers to all Felids, as well as the Domestic cat. Cats have retractile claws, slender muscular bodies and strong flexible forelimbs. Their teeth and facial muscles allow for a powerful bite. They are all obligate carnivores which means they rely solely on animal flesh for their sustenance. Most are solitary predators, ambushing or stalking their prey. Wild cats occur in Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Americas. Their activity patterns range from nocturnal and crepuscular to diurnal, depending on their preferred prey species.
