Description
Female giraffe skull, real bone. This skull is approximately 24 inches long, 11 3/4 inches at its tallest point and 10 inches at its widest point.
The giraffe is the tallest living land mammal. Female giraffes are up to 14 feet tall and can weigh up to 1500 pounds. Both male and female giraffes have two horns on the top of their head called ossicones. The ossicones begin as cartilage, and later fuse to the skull as the giraffe ages.
