Description
Mink skull, real bone.
Mink are dark-colored, semi-aquatic, carnivorous mammals and are part of the family Mustelidae, which also includes weasels, otters, and ferrets. The American mink is often raised in captivity throughout the world for its rich glossy coat which, in its wild state, is brown and looks silky. Farm-bred mink can vary from white to almost black, which is reflected in the British wild mink. Their coat is deep, rich brown, with or without white spots on the underparts, and consists of a slick, dense underfur overlaid with dark, glossy, almost stiff guard hairs. In the wild, mink are small, discreet, and most often nocturnal, and they live in close proximity to water. The maximum lifespan of a mink is usually around ten years, but rarely exceeds three years in the wild.
The skull shown is 3" long x 1 7/8" tall and 1 5/8" wide
