There are 33 species of Rattlesnakes, which are characterized by a segmented rattle at the end of their tail which makes a buzzing sound when it is shaken. Adult Rattlesnakes are recognized as New World vipers, and can be anywhere from 1.5' all the way to a staggering 8' long! Rattlesnakes are found throughout North and South America, and the greatest concentration of them is in the Southwestern United States and in Northern Mexico.
