Description
Wet Specimen Octopus in a jar.
Just a few points about wet specimens:
-These specimens are fully preserved, and once preserved, they are placed in 70% isopropyl alcohol.
-The alcohol has a shelf life of 1 to 1 1/2 years, and at that point, it does need to be emptied out and refilled.
-If there is alcohol loss due to evaporation, it is better to empty and refill rather than topping off the jar.
-If the specimen is shipped via USPS, it cannot be shipped with alcohol in the jar…the specimen will be shipped wrapped in an alcohol soaked paper towel, and upon receipt you will have to remove the paper towel and fill the jar with 70% isopropyl alcohol.
-A properly preserved wet specimen will not rot if left out of alcohol for a very extended period of time, they will simply mummify.
